Donkeys have been known to easily go up to three full days without drinking when water is scarce, and this plant named for a mule’s tail will go even longer! A member of the succulent family, Donkey’s Tail has a uniquely bushy look and trails downward in thick, pale green vines that have a braided appearance.
LOCATION AND LIGHT:
Donkey’s Tail will grow its best in BRIGHT DIRECT LIGHT, but will also survive in BRIGHT INDIRECT LIGHT. South-facing or West-facing windows make ideal homes for these water-retaining plants.
WATER:
Like cacti, succulents thrive in gritty, dry soil. They’re sustained largely through the water retained by their leaves, and thus need less frequent water than many other plants. This species won’t tolerate excess moisture, so allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.
