Bucida Buceras is a HIGH LIGHT olive tree cultivar, known colloquially as both the ‘Shady Lady’ and the ‘Bullet Tree’. It is often grown outdoors to provide relief from the hot, hot sun! This tree is highly valued for its exceptionally hard and durable wood, which is so strong it can be used for house posts and bridge timbers.

LOCATION & LIGHT:
Just like its Mediterranean cousins, Bucida Buceras will do best in a South-facing window. Consistent direct sunlight is necessary to keep this plant healthy, as it is native to Florida and the Caribbean.

WATER:
Unlike Mediterranean cultivars, however, the Shady Lady grows naturally in coastal swamps and wet inland forests. Indoors, this means it would like for its soil to be kept moist, (but not soggy). When the top soil feels completely dry, it’s time to water!
