CALATHEA ORNATA 6" Grower Pot
The striking variegation on this member of the Calathea family has rightfully earned it the nickname “Pinstripe Plant”. Dressed to the nines and sure to impress, the leaves of the Calathea Ornata open and close throughout the day as the sun rises and sets. The dark purple undersides of its leaves are just as attractive as the dainty pinstripes on their tops, so this plant is a conversation piece all day long.
LOCATION AND LIGHT:
Calathea thrive in MEDIUM-BRIGHT INDIRECT light. As their leaves are quite delicate, prolonged exposure to direct sun can lead to burning. These plants will do well close to North-facing and East-facing windows, or set back 5-10 feet from brighter South-facing and West-facing windows.
WATER:
Calatheas appreciate a relatively humid environment and will benefit from an occasional misting. Water thoroughly when the top 1-2 inches of soil are relatively dry, and allow all excess water to drain from the pot to prevent root rot. Extended periods of dryness may lead to browning on the leaf edges.
