Try the phonetic spelling, tee-NANTH-ee lub-er-see-AH-nuh, or, refer to this unusual plant as the Never-Never Plant. This evergreen perennial with branching bamboo-like stems and oblong green, veined leaves that are mottled with cream and gold. It needs high humidity and BRIGHT INDIRECT LIGHT.

LOCATION & LIGHT:

Ctenanthes like bright indirect light. If there is insufficient light, new leaves appear solid green rather than patterned with attractive colours. If there is too much light, the colours in the leaves fade.

WATER:

Keep the soil evenly moist but never soggy. Ctenanthes do not like to dry out and do not like cold or hard water. High humidity is very important, mist often, or place near a humidifier in the winter months.
