Dragon Tail: Rhaphidophora decursiva - 6 inch pot
As majestic as the mythical creature from which it takes its common name, Rhaphidophora Decursiva has been observed in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains climbing up to 50 feet tall! This variety of Rhaphidophora is similar in form to its more common cousin Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma, but develops deeper, more angular fenestrations as it matures - giving it the spiked appearance of a dragon’s tail.
LOCATION AND LIGHT:
Rhaphidophora Decursiva will grow its best in BRIGHT INDIRECT LIGHT. Prolonged exposure to direct sun may scorch the leaves, but this plant will not tolerate low light conditions. Place closely to North or East-facing windows, or pull back a few feet from South and West-facing windows.
WATER:
Give your Dragon’s Tail a thorough drink when the first 1-2 inches of soil are dry to the touch. As with many tropicals, these plants will not appreciate overwatering. Let all excess water drain from the pot to avoid root rot!
