Named for its leopard-esque “spotting”, and also known as Calathea Concinna ‘Freddie”, this variety is defined by its pastel green leaves with contrastingly dark inner markings. Like many Calathea, the Leopardina will open and close slightly throughout the day as the sun rises and sets.

LOCATION AND LIGHT:

Calathea thrive in MEDIUM-BRIGHT INDIRECT light. As their leaves are quite delicate, prolonged exposure to direct sun can lead to burning. These plants will do well close to North-facing and East-facing windows, or set back 5-10 feet from brighter South-facing and West-facing windows.

WATER:

Calatheas appreciate a relatively humid environment, and will benefit from an occasional misting. Water thoroughly when the top 1-2 inches of soil are relatively dry, and allow all excess water to drain from the pot to prevent root rot. Extended periods of dryness may lead to browning on the leaf edges.
