Colocasia Esculenta 'Mojito' is characterized by its dark purple flecks, splashed across the foliage and stems. Although grown primarily as an indoor ornamental plant in North America, Colocasia has been grown as a food source since the time of the Roman Empire.
Both its leaves and starchy tubers can be eaten when cooked, but are toxic to pets raw.
LOCATION AND LIGHT:
Colocasia prefer BRIGHT INDIRECT LIGHT, and will not tolerate low light conditions. Direct sun will burn the leaves, so keep your Colocasia behind a sheer curtain near a South or West-facing window, or pulled back a few feet.
WATER:
Colocasia are not a drought tolerant plant, and need to be kept relatively moist. Allow the top 25% of soil to dry out between waterings, and mist often to keep them happy.
