A relatively recently discovered member of the Dracaena family, this king of the jungle was first cultivated in South Florida just over a decade ago. A genetic offshoot of the ever-popular Dracaena Marginata, this variety boasts wider leaves and a thicker trunk, but look closely and you’ll spot a thin pink margin along the edges of its foliage just like its predecessor.
LOCATION AND LIGHT:
Dracaenas are best suited to primarily indirect light. They will tolerate a few hours of direct sun, but prolonged exposure may lead to scorched leaves. Place your Dracaena Tarzan in a room with MEDIUM-BRIGHT INDIRECT LIGHT. A spot near an East-facing window, or 5-10 feet removed from a South-facing or West-facing window is ideal.
WATER:
Like the vast majority of Dracaena, Tarzan appreciates a relatively generous period of time to dry out in between waterings. Water thoroughly when the top 3-4 inches (or approximately the top third) of soil has dried out. Allow all excess water to drain after watering to prevent root rot!
