Sago palms (Cycas revoluta) are technically not even true palms! They come from a group of ancient tropical and subtropical plants that are native to Japan and Southern China. Sago palms require BRIGHT INDIRECT LIGHT.

NOTE: Sago palms are toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Please exercise care when bringing this species into a home with children or pets.

LOCATION & LIGHT:

Sago palms do best with bright indirect sunlight. Too much direct sunlight can result in scorching of the leaves in the summertime. Placement a couple of feet away from a bright south, east, or west-facing window is best.

WATER:

Sago palms are moderately drought tolerant but prefer evenly moist soil. Check the soil levels at least once a week and water deeply when the soil is halfway dry. Allow the soil to dry out a little more in the winter than in the summer. A daily mist of water helps to keep humidity levels high. If frond tips become brown, the humidity is too low.
