Schefflera are characterized by the cluster of leaflets that form a circle around their flexible green stems. It's easy to see how this plant got it's common name: The Umbrella Tree.
With its vibrant green leaves, Schefflera bring a playful dose of the tropics into any room. Despite being a dwarf variety of Schefflera in nature, this particular specimen has a "Standard" shape meaning its been pruned and trained to look like a classic tree!
LOCATION & LIGHT:
Schefflera prefer BRIGHT INDIRECT LIGHT, but can adapt to lower light conditions. Place your Schefflera directly in front of a North or East-facing window, or keep it pulled back 4-8 feet from Western or Southern exposures. In inadequate light, Schefflera will grow leggy and lose its variegation.
WATER:
Schefflera are drought-tolerant plants and will rot when too much moisture is present. When the top third of the soil feels completely dry, it's time to give your plant a drink. Saturate the soil evenly every time you water, and be sure to do so more sparingly in lower-light conditions! Although Schefflera are not overly particular when it comes to humidity, they appreciate the occasional misting.
