The waxy, heart-shaped leaves of the Hoya Kerrii have earned it the nickname “Valentine Hoya”, and it’s certainly not a hard plant to fall in love with. Hoya are, in general, an easygoing species that can thrive in a variety of environments. Under good care, Hoya plants will produce gorgeous clusters of intricate blooms.
LOCATION AND LIGHT:
Hoya are happiest in BRIGHT INDIRECT LIGHT, but are somewhat adaptable and can also be grown in MEDIUM and LOW INDIRECT LIGHT. It is worth noting that the more light hoya are exposed to, the more likely they will be to flower frequently.
WATER:
It’s ideal to water your hoya when the top 2-3 inches of the soil have dried out. Hoya’s thick leaves retain more water than many other plants and make them tolerant to short periods of drought - if you forget to water once or twice your hoya will forgive you!
