The Peperomia family is seemingly endless, with some botanists estimating there to be upward of 1000 varieties of this easy-to-grow fan favourite! Rubella is a vining peperomia, making it a great addition to hanging baskets and bookshelves alike. This variety produces green leaves in clusters of 4 that sharply contrast with its dramatic scarlet stems.
LOCATION AND LIGHT:
Peperomia Rubella will thrive in MEDIUM - BRIGHT INDIRECT LIGHT. These plants are somewhat adaptable to a variety of lighting conditions, but will not tolerate low light (which can lead to “leggy” growth and overwatering) or prolonged direct sun (which may burn the leaves). Place close to an East-facing or North-facing window, or 5-10 feet away from a South-facing or West-facing window.
WATER:
Peperomia share some characteristics with succulents and therefore can tolerate short periods of drought. Ideally, water when the top third of soil has dried out - we recommend using your finger to test the dryness of your plant’s soil! Allow all excess water to drain to prevent root rot.
