ALOCASIA SAMAR LANCE 'SCALPRUM' 3.5" Grower Pot

This unique Alocasia made its publication debut in volume 7 of the International Aroid Society Journal in 1984 after being introduced by Hawaiian plant collector Lelan Miyano to botanists Peter Boyce and Lord Alistair Hay. At this point, it was endemic to the Philippines. Now, almost 40 years later, it remains rare in private collections. It's sought after for good reason... there is no other Alocasia quite like this: A. Samar Lance AKA 'Scalprum' sports intricately embossed, elongated leaves that turn from light and glossy to dark and rigid as they mature.

These plants are toxic to pets.

LOCATION AND LIGHT:

Like the vast majority of Alocasia, 'Scalprum' will do best in BRIGHT INDIRECT LIGHT. The leaves of this plant are somewhat delicate and may scorch if exposed to prolonged direct beams of sun, but alocasia will not tolerate low light. East-facing and West-facing windows will provide ideal lighting conditions.

WATER:

This Alocasia is naturally found in subtropical areas of Southeast Asia, and like many other Alocasia varieties is a humidity lover. Regular misting and evenly moist soil are ideal. These plants appreciate a thorough watering when the first 2-3 inches of soil feels dry to the touch.
